Halloween is coming! Despite having ignored it completely on the blog so far this year, I do know it’s creeping up on us! I thought I’d bring you a fun and super quick way to bring Halloween into your home… and your fridge. I hope you’ll find this as funny as me- I crack up at these things. A couple years ago, I gave our carton of eggs a little makeover and not only did it give me a good laugh, but my hubby and our then-roomate. But this isn’t just your eggs… this is your whole fridge. It’s a fun surprise for anyone that goes to grab a drink. Why? Well, other than it being crazy funny, if you’re having a Halloween get together, this will be an unexpected way to delight your guests. Yes, I said delight.
Are you the only person that uses your fridge? Spookify a friends as a surprise! Imagine coming home tho THIS when you reach for the ketchup. I’m just saying, it would bring a smile to my face.
Ok, so you’re sold (obviously). Here’s what you need to make it happen:
- Googly eyes in assorted sizes
- Card Stock/ Thick Paper
- Black Marker
- Scissors
- Double sided tape
This is pretty straight-forward. Write some clever phrases in some speech bubbles (feel free to use mine- I know, they’re clever). Then attach those and the eyes to your refrigerated items using double sided tape. BUT keep in mind condensation and sticky tape don’t mix. I did this right after grocery shopping so some of the containers weren’t cold yet. Some things that work good every time? Soda cans, egg cartons, and paper labels. Some things that don’t work good? Cold glass, or milk cartons. Ta-da! Spooky Fridge.
I might make this a yearly tradition… a week or two before Halloween, our fridge gets spooky. I think that would be a fun surprise for our kiddos as they grow! Would you try this out? Who’s fridge would you spook? Maybe your work lunchroom? I’d love to hear if you have any pre-Halloween traditions in your house!
PS. Did you totally creep out what was in my fridge? If you posted the contents of your fridge, I’d totally judge what was in there.
