Neutral Autumn Tablescape for Friendsgiving

Sep 21

*Thank you to Wayfair for sponsoring this post. For my full disclosure and policies, hop over here*

I love this nature inspired neutral autumn tablescape- so perfect for thanksgiving (or friendsgiving!)

One of my favourite traditions is one we started a couple years ago with our friends- Friendsgiving. The busier life gets and the more kids that come into the picture, the harder it is to get together. I love that Friendsgiving (we do it for Easter too!) gives an excuse to mark a date on the calendar and sit around a table together. It’s so refreshing.

In the past, I’ve always thrown together the table the night of (as everyone was arriving- because last minute is my MO). I’ve always been happy with how it’s turned out, BUT when Wayfair invited me to participate in their autumn Tastemaker’s Table challenge… I knew it was the perfect opportunity to get a head start. I lettered all the place cards (watercolour printables below!), snapped all my photos of the tablesettings, and now all I need to do on the night of is throw it back on the table and enjoy the good company- what’s not to love about that!?

Autumn is my favourite season- the crisp weather… beautiful trees… starting new routines… it’s my birthday… there’s so much to love, really. But the one thing I’ve never gotten into is fall decor. This year I’ve been craving to jump into it a little bit more but I wasn’t sure how to approach it without going all orange. Don’t get me wrong, orange is gorgeous… but it ‘aint my style. We have none of it in our home and I’d like to keep it that way (Sorry Shane… it’s his favourite colour). I love the natural colours and kraft paper my table pulled in last year, but now that we’ve finished our gorgeous table, I wanted to show it off!

I chose to use this simple monogram table runner I DIY’ed out of drop cloth (I shared the DIY over on Bespoke Decor) as a starting point. I spotted some pretty dang gorgeous runners on Wayfair as well.

After spotting this stunning bouquet, I knew I wanted to try and track down the darkest most moody leaves that I could find, but not having any trees in my yard, I ended up with a mixed bag of maple leaves which I’m actually really happy with. I added in my table staples- my vintage brass candlesticks and textured gold tealight holders. I’m always tempted to add more, but I am so glad I held off. It’s just enough.

Let’s talk about the place settings! I knew I wanted to use mini pumpkins (those things are the cutest!) but when I put them on the plates they didn’t fill the space enough. I decided to paint some watercolour texture to help fill the white space. I LOVE how the watercolour turned out. It’s neutral but moody and all the things I love.

I decided they were too good to toss after the dinner, so I scanned them in and I’ve got the watercolor place cards as printables for you- just print them off, tear them out (torn edges are so much more beautiful for this!) and add your names.

I love your tabletop but was also admiring the large world map on the wall. Can you tell me where you got it?
    Thanks

    Good Morning,
How do I get the steel base? Do you hav a specific place that I can place the work order?
    Would it be very expensive?
    Thanks.

This tool is what we used for this accent wall and all the trim in our home. It’s the one I used to trim out my built in shelving and add the decorative moulding to my geometric barn door. What I’m saying is this thing is a workhorse and I want you to have one too 😉

The hallway is finally finished and I’m so stink The hallway is finally finished and I’m so stinking happy!

It’s felt like such a long time coming for such a small space. Since we moved in 2.5 years ago, this space has seen new doors and hardware, new trim, new floors... twice😅, we changed the boob light to a pot light and I hated it and now it’s got the most beautiful flush mount fixture I’m in love with (thanks @mymitzi!). It finally got some fresh paint and now frames on walls and last but not least... After this weekend, the new floors look like they were here all along (no door jamb gaps!) which was the last thing really bugging me since our flood last year.

All this to say that home takes time and sometimes getting it right might take a couple tries. Also- the spaces we don’t really think about (hallways) can totally help a house feel like home with some love (and family photos 🥰)
ps. I partnered with #mymitzi to create a tiktok for This makeover... are you following me over there yet?! I’d love if you popped over and said hi!
It’s done! It works! And I’m calling it a grea It’s done! It works! And I’m calling it a great use of my afternoon the other day. Did you catch the stories? These projects both cost me under $10 by using pieces I already had in my home (yay for scraps!) and one package of drawer slides).
You can find the full video about these two kitchen organization projects over on YouTube in collaboration with my friend @love_create_celebrate and her #scrapsmademodern challenge! But for now... I’m rejoicing this coffee maker is off my counter for good 🎉

I’m not going to lie, I’m easing into this new year thing pretty slowly. All my decorations are still up (we always leave them up til Ukrainian Christmas which is later this week) and I I’ve yet to respond to my emails since before Christmas 😅
I’m enjoying the slowness of it all.

All of these projects are things that I’d personally love to buy for our family and look like they’d be a great return on your time making them! And yes, all of them use #Kreg tools to make them easy to assemble and quick to make! Plus, they’re having a great sale on right now with deals on their K4 and K5 jigs, Rip-Cut and even a hardware jig bundle! There’s never been a better time to get your workshop set up! #sponsored
