When I shared my mantel a last week I mentioned that I was waiting on new stockings to arrive but they were stuck in the mail strike… Guess what?! Here they are! That means all SIX of us have matching stockings. When I bought our last stockings (the year the twins were born), I’d also bought coordinating yarn to cross stitch our initials on to them. After 5 years with NO monograms, it’s clear that’s not my strength. This time around I thought we’d make it clear who’s stocking is who’s with embroidered names.
I’m so excited to partner with Personalization Mall to share another Modern Handmade Home post with you! This time we are sharing some of the things we’ve chosen to personalize for the holidays with decor and gifts. If you’ve been following me for any amount of time- you’ll probably be thinking that I already do that the DIY way. And it’s true for most things… but clearly I can’t embroider or cross stitch stockings. So I jumped on these gorgeous fur ones so fast when I saw these.
I really love these fur stockings. They’re so beautiful and the brown/grey fur colour is perfect for pretty much every style of holiday decor. I was a little worried the names wouldn’t show up on the fur but this silver thread is perfect! It stands out but doesn’t look out of place. You can pick different fonts, colours… it makes such a difference! And I don’t even have to tell you, because you can see it for yourself because Lindi chose the same stockings but a different embroidery! You can check that out here.
Beyond the stockings, I also picked up a personalized gift for each person in our family. It was fun to look through and pick out a gift that would make each of our kids so excited.
I’m probably most excited about this sweet little mermaid doll for Aubrey. You might recognize this one from my personalized gifts for kids gift guide I shared a couple weeks ago. It has her name on the tail but it’s really just adorable even without the personalization. The minute we took it out of the box, Calder’s been in love with this doll. I had to get it wrapped up so he would stop pulling it out of the box to play with.
For Emmitt, I got him a soccer shirt with his name on it. He really loves soccer and loves to wear his soccer jerseys all summer long. Now that it’s showed up, I’m thinking I should probably order one for Windsor too since he’s starting soccer this year. Windsor wants everything like his brother- it’s adorable!
For Windsor I got him this personalized hard pencil case that says Windsor’s Secret Stuff. Since all three of the boys share a room and have very little space to themselves, Emmitt’s made a bag for himself for all of his things but Windsor just tucks things under his pillow. I thought this would be so perfect for him! Plus- it looks kind of like a super hero item and he’s all about that lately.
Last of the kids… Calder’s hooded towel! He’s young enough that I can still buy him whatever I like and still call it a gift for him. And I really like this towel! We call him Calder Bear all the time so a hooded bear towel? PERFECT. It’s so soft, it’s almost like a soft blanket on the outside and a towel on the inside.
For Shane, I got a new barbecue tool set which is kind of selfish because I did a lot of the grilling this year and we’re in pretty bad need of an upgrade. BUT how fun is it that you can have it say whatever you want? Like an inside joke ;)
Last but not least, I got something for myself which I’m definitely not saving for Christmas. I’ve been trying to build the habit of writing a gratitude journal each morning… in the back of an old journal I had. I personalized this leather journal specifically for that. So now I have a fresh new one just dedicated to that. Maybe that will help my habit building- ha!
Alright, I’m going to leave it at that- I need to go do some Christmas shopping. Because these gifts are literally all that I’ve bought so far. They’re wrapped now and under the tree and my kids are so excited- it’s like having presents around makes it officially Christmas season.
Make sure to hop around and check out the other ladies from Modern Handmade Home and their take on personalized holidays! I’m going to tell you that there’s some similar tastes in here but that’s what I love most about this collaboration- every time, I KNOW I’m going to see ideas, inspiration and decor that I totally love!
