Simple Spring Home Tour

Mar 16

Welcome to my modern neutrals simple spring home tour! I’m sharing our family home decorated with natural elements and minimalist spring decorations.

Simple Spring Home Tour

It’s that time again, and this time around… I’m so darn ready. I don’t know if there’s a year I’ve been more looking forward to spring. Not even because the winter was particularly cold, but because we’ve been stuck inside way more and I’m ready for backyard visits! I’m pulling the patio furniture out this week and I really can’t wait. So in celebration of spring, today is home tour time! I’m sharing my simple spring home tour along with so many talented blogging friends as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Spring Series. If you’re touring around from A Pretty Life in the Suburbs, welcome!

Each season I’ve been cutting back on how much seasonal decor I put out. I used to love all the signs and bunnies and eggs everywhere for spring, but the busier life got- the more I craved simplicity in my home. The other change was finding decor I truly loved for my home that wasn’t seasonal. I don’t want to move anything I have on the walls or surface to make room for seasonal decor!

Minimal Spring Decor

That said, I do swap a few things out seasonally! Fresh blooms are one of my favourite ways to seasonally change up my space. I also love to switch up our entryway letter board and wreath. There’s a couple seasonal decor pieces mixed in here too, but definitely less than I used to! Let’s start in the entryway with that pretty faux fern wreath (I’ve had it for years – It’s the same one I used in this DIY!).

Other than swapping out the wreath each season, I also like to swap out this letter board. Normally, I swap it out almost every month but this time around, I definitely had to take a Christmas quote down to put this spring one in! I also didn’t realize until editing photos that I didn’t pot my new entry plant! I had a really finicky string of dolphins in this hanging planter, but it just couldn’t take the cold of the door opening and closing all winter. I have been rooting some cuttings from the plant on my mantel in my kitchen window to replace it but totally forgot to plant it up! So here’s a little bitt of real life with some dead plant for you ;)

Bunny Tail Grasses for Neutral Spring Decor

Through the entry is the dining room and I had some fun capturing this angle. Those bunny tail grasses are the perfect natural touch of spring decor. I actually got them in the fall but with the name and how cute they are, I couldn’t help but pull them out again. The glass vases are thrifted years ago.

Not specifically spring decor, but today we hit the same beach in this photo- we rode our bikes and enjoyed the sunshine. I love that we have these moments on our walls. It also reminded me that I took this photo in march last year and we got a dump of snow the following week so I’m hoping that doesn’t happen this year- ha!

Okay, but can we talk about the light bouncing around? Look at that golden glow on the open shelving! The kitchen just reflects light off the countertops, the tile… it’s actually glowing. And the way the sun just pours in these windows in the spring! It’s instant joy after a long dark winter.

So you’ll notice in here there isn’t much extra seasonal decor. Just some fresh cuts. Isn’t there something so calming about clear countertops? I just love the clear space and the feeling of calm that it brings. It also helps reflect the light around ;)

Spring Mantel Decor

Into the living room, Ive just switched out my vase full of evergreen for some springy eucalyptus. I didn’t add water to that vase so the eucalyptus should dry pretty nicely. Did you know you could do that? I wrote more about it right here! I also popped some faux gold speckled eggs in a little ceramic dish on the mantel. I love that the kids hide these for each other all month long.

You can find our fireplace makeover here.

I realized that I didn’t get a great shot of the full mantle, but wanted to show you my newest plant! Isn’t this beast gorgeous? I took a few cuttings and have been rooting them on the window sill for the front entry. I think this would be so gorgeous trailing there!

Speaking of plants… I don’t remember how I even decorated before plants. I’ve always had house plants, but my collection is definitely growing. I moved them around the house recently and am loving how clear this console feels again. Candles, books, plants and fresh flowers… that’s all I really need for decorating ;)

Hallway with gallery wall
Hallway Gallery Wall

Heading out of the living room and down the hallway I wanted to mention this little gallery wall! I shared it on IG and TikTok (see that here!) but haven’t shared it here on the blog yet! I swapped out the light in the hallway and finally printed new photos for our gallery wall frames (IKEA). It feels so good to have these up and have more moments that make us smile up on our walls.

Down the hallway, I also added in a touch of spring decor in the bathroom! Other than this plant which has been here for a couple of months (she loves the humidity in the bathroom!) I also swapped out the little pennant in our bathroom for an easter one! I made this one years ago, but I just love the simplicity of it.

Alright, that’s it, that’s all! I just had so much fun playing with angles and capturing the gorgeous light streaming through the windows for this simple spring home tour!

I always start out feeling a little bad that I’m not offering more decoration ideas when I’m photographing a seasonal home tour, but I know that simplicity is what makes my home so enjoyable and want to encourage you to try it if you’re feeling like your home could use some calm!

We have 4 kids and they are anything but calm so being able to calm my decor and some of the surfaces does wonders for us enjoying our home. If you’re feeling a bit tired- this is your encouragement to give yourself a break this year and enjoy a bit less decor :)

This week I’m joining some of my talented blogging friends for the Spring Seasonal Simplicity Series! All week long we are sharing our homes decorated for spring and our best tips and ideas for bringing a spring feel into your home. You can visit each tour by clicking on the links below the images!
