Champagne Birthday Party

May 23
A Champagne Birthday Party! Such a fun theme and I love how simple it is to decorate with these DIYs

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a full party around here… but I actually have a couple party posts sitting ready for you. This one is probably my fave. In November, one of my best friends had her champagne birthday. Do you know what this means? I had actually never heard the term before but had so much fun with the theme. A champagne birthday is when you turn the age of the day your birthday’s on. She turned 25 on the 25th. Mine would have happened when I was 10… so that’s probably why I’d never heard of it. She asked if I could take care of the decorations, so I ran with the whole ‘champagne birthday party’ thing… some blush, champagne, gold, and silver. The thing about party decorations is once you have a bit of a stash… decorating for them gets easier, quicker, and less expensive. The only things I actually purchased for this decor were the fresh flowers and one sheet of scrapbook paper for a garland.

Notice there’s no food in these photos? That’s because all I had to do was the decorations ;) Which is my favourite part… I never leave enough time to make the food really awesome anyways. I’ve also realized that decorating and preparing for a party all in one afternoon is too much for it to be fun. So you can get it all set out that morning and then in the afternoon all you need to worry about is the food (if that’s your job too!) and getting yourself party -ready.

Okay, so can we talk about these blooms for a minute? It is h-a-r-d to find beautiful affordable flowers in the winter sometimes. I tend to pack out my florals with greenery to save some cash and one of my favourite is seeded eucalyptus (I used it for my birthday party too!). This bouquet rang in around $22 and that was 3 stems of eucalyptus, two bundles of tulips, and 2 stems of the mini roses. I love spray flowers because you get more blooms per stem- and flowers are usually priced by the stem. These mini roses are such a perfect blush colour too- I love that they’re not to pinky.

The vintage cream and sugars, candleholders and vases are all from my home decor (you may recognize them from bookcases and my mantle) and I borrowed the tall candlesticks from my sister in law. You really don’t need to go shopping to find decor if you stick to a theme that allows home decor pieces. You probably have some gorgeous things in your home that would perfectly suit a pretty party table! Oh, and vintage silver platters are so affordable from thrift stores and they look awesome on any party table. I’ve had these two for years and they get used all. the. time. That mirror is also a vintage piece I have been meaning to fix up. I used a chalk marker and it made for a perfect sign. I know I complained about it last time I used a mirror for a party sign… they SUCK to take photos of. Where do you hide?

And that little acrylic sign? That’s a DIY I made for my good friend, you can find it right over here.

A fun backdrop is always a fun way to make a party table special. I’m a big fan of layering garlands for something extravagant. I just really like garlands though. Like everywhere, for every occasion, and in every room of my house, every day. That champagne/gold one is from The Land of Nod, but I couldn’t see it available any more, and the rest of the garlands are DIY (or at least partially DIY). The Pop, Fizz, Clink garland is cut out of one sheet of silver scrapbook paper using my Cricut Explore. I saved the design as a PNG if you’d like to cut out your own- just click here (personal use only)! It’s just the beautiful Helena typeface with adjusted kerning. The ‘brushstrokes’ garland is a holiday garland I flipped over and painted the backs of. I love that it brought some of the pinks up instead of having an all silver/gold backdrop.

Not to talk your ear off too much… here’s another crazy simple DIY! This flat white balloon, all lettered up with some silver paint pens! It reminds me of a more modern ‘wedding anniversary’ style balloon. The tricky part was getting it to stay still enough to write on it without someone else holding it for me. I love the ‘hey girl’ side, but I’m a sucker for Ryan Gosling memes (who isn’t?).

That’s all I’ve got for you today! I’m so glad I finally got to share this with you. I feel like I’ve been holding on to it forever! What’s your favourite part (if you made it all the way to the end here)? Mine is a tie between the florals (swoon) and the balloons on the floor.

    Hi Colleen,

I’m loving this soft, feminine birthday decor! Great DIY tips, I’ll definitely use in the future! Did you write the script on the mirror? So beautiful!
