The Best DIY Open Shelves from Bloggers

Jul 22

Now that I’ve finished my second set of open shelving in this house (don’t think I’m stopping there, by the way!), I think it’s safe to say that I’m a fan. And an advocate. They’re just SO functional. And pretty to boot. So I thought I’d feed the addiction a little bit while I plan my next ones with a round up of my favourite DIY Open Shelves from bloggers. What do you say? You’re crazy like me and don’t mind? I was hoping so!

8 Best DIY Open Shelves

Left to Right, Top to Bottom:

ONE: Let’s start the round up with a bang shall we? I’m jaw-drop, head over heels for these copper shelves Mandi from Vintage Revivals created. They’re so. stinking. amazing.

TWO: These industrial pipe and wood shelves from 7th House on the Left are all sorts of wonderful. They another knock off (us bloggers like to make things for cheaper, and it’s so good when it turns out like this!) and by making them herself she saved over $500… so DIY is a very, very good thing here.

THREE: The most recent DIY addition to my office- these hanging shelves are so easy to pull together and I love the unique look the chunky black rope gives. I’ve had several people suggest making them nautical with different rope and driftwood style boards. I think they’re right and that would look amaaazing!

FOUR: There is something so subtle but chunky and amazing about these DIY rustic floating shelves from Jenna Sue Design. Her whole kitchen, really… it’s just all good.

FIVE: The first open shelves I ever tried my hand at are these babies for my kitchen. I was so nervous that the open shelves would make for clutter but by keeping dishes that we use all the time on there, nothing gets piled on. This DIY is an Ikea hack to make those shiny brackets a bit more rustic with chunky boards.

SIX: Here is another set of industrial pipe shelves from Design Dining and Diapers. I love how they’re joined together as a unit instead of individual shelves. I’m kind of wishing on shelves like this to organize the twins’ closet. I’m going to have to hit Home Depot to price out a whole closet of these babies though!

SEVEN: These shelves are such a good combination of hanging and floating shelves. There’s something so cool about these DIY chain suspended shelves from Sawdust 2 Stitches.

EIGHT: Another hanging DIY- I love the look of these leather hanging shelves from Going Home to Roost! I also like the character the salvaged wood adds. I’d just be cautious not to fill these shelves with too heavy of things.

So tell me… what’s your fave? Other than my own (because I obviously love them or they wouldn’t be in my home!), mine would have to be those gorgeous copper shelves. Because, well… really!
