5 Simple Ways to Display Your Holiday Cards

Nov 24

Holiday cards are exciting to receive, but once you’ve read them… what do you do with them? I’m sharing 5 simple ways to display them to enjoy them all season long, without buying anything new!

5 Ways to Display Holiday Cards

Holiday cards are one of my favorite traditions this time of year, they are nostalgic and I love getting to see photos and sometimes even recaps from people we love that we don’t get to see too often. Today I’m excited to partner with Walmart Photo  to share 5 simple ways to display the holiday cards you receive.

Growing up, I would set up with my mom and I’d get to address all the envelopes while she wrote the holiday cards. I got to stick the stamps on and seal the envelopes and most definitely drink tea and eat some cookies while we were at it.

When we were growing up, we used to display the folded cards over our window blinds, but now we don’t have any blinds like that and most cards we receive are flat photo cards instead of the folded cards.

I thought it would be fun to share some of the ways we’ve displayed them over the years that work with both the flat photo cards and the folded traditional cards. Plus, you shouldn’t have to buy anything to make these happen!

All of these awesome holiday cards I’m featuring are some of the Walmart Photo holiday cards you can get through Walmart Photo’s same day services!

Display Holiday Cards Around A Mirror

1. Around a mirror or art

This was Shane’s preference of all the ways we tested out. I just used gift wrapping tape in loops to attach these to the wall and arranged them in a starburst pattern around the mirror.

If you get more than 20 cards, you’d probably want to skip this one. You could definitely do it on either side of a large framed piece of art as well!

2. Pinned to a Ribbon

Okay so this one was really easy to pull off and I love the minimal look of it! This is my vote. I just used a clip on a nail in the wall and hung a pretty ribbon from it. I have these gold clips that I used to clip the cards to, but you could use clothespins if you prefer! If you have more cards, you can add another ribbon beside, easy peasy! I also love that this allows you to read the back if you’re checking them out.

Alternatively, you could hang the ribbon like a garland, with a nail in either end and clip the cards on like a garland.

3. Tied Into a flipbook

This is how we’ve displayed the cards we’ve received the past few years! While we’re looking to switch it up this year (I’m really rooting for the last idea), this is such a great way to display the cards so that they actually get looked at and so that they don’t end up cluttering every surface in your home. I just used a hole punch and a thin ribbon to tie them together!

As a bonus, if you love to keep your cards year to year, these are really easy to keep together and store.

4. In a Garland

I’m not going to lie, I’m obsessed with this idea although we use this railing to dry snow pants over so it’s just not practical for us in this space. But if you had a railing that was not in your main, crowded entrance… how gorgeous is this?!

I just used bobby pins to attach the cards to the garland. This is truly so pretty… we left them up for a few days even though for now they’re all still cards of us- ha!

5. Corralled in a Basket

Last but not least, corral all of those pretty cards in a little basket or tray on your coffee table! Having a designated place for them makes them easy to keep from taking over the house and keeping them on the coffee table makes them so easy to sit down and look through.

I used this acrylic tray I have had for years, but you could even use a beautiful bowl!

I hope this has given you some ideas to display your holiday cards using what you have! If you do use one of these ideas- you know I would so love to see a photo! You can tag me @colleenpastoor on social.
