5 Simple Ways to Display Your Holiday Cards

Nov 24

Holiday cards are exciting to receive, but once you’ve read them… what do you do with them? I’m sharing 5 simple ways to display them to enjoy them all season long, without buying anything new!

5 Ways to Display Holiday Cards

Holiday cards are one of my favorite traditions this time of year, they are nostalgic and I love getting to see photos and sometimes even recaps from people we love that we don’t get to see too often. Today I’m excited to partner with Walmart Photo  to share 5 simple ways to display the holiday cards you receive.

Growing up, I would set up with my mom and I’d get to address all the envelopes while she wrote the holiday cards. I got to stick the stamps on and seal the envelopes and most definitely drink tea and eat some cookies while we were at it.

When we were growing up, we used to display the folded cards over our window blinds, but now we don’t have any blinds like that and most cards we receive are flat photo cards instead of the folded cards.

I thought it would be fun to share some of the ways we’ve displayed them over the years that work with both the flat photo cards and the folded traditional cards. Plus, you shouldn’t have to buy anything to make these happen!

All of these awesome holiday cards I’m featuring are some of the Walmart Photo holiday cards you can get through Walmart Photo’s same day services!

Display Holiday Cards Around A Mirror

1. Around a mirror or art

This was Shane’s preference of all the ways we tested out. I just used gift wrapping tape in loops to attach these to the wall and arranged them in a starburst pattern around the mirror.

If you get more than 20 cards, you’d probably want to skip this one. You could definitely do it on either side of a large framed piece of art as well!

2. Pinned to a Ribbon

Okay so this one was really easy to pull off and I love the minimal look of it! This is my vote. I just used a clip on a nail in the wall and hung a pretty ribbon from it. I have these gold clips that I used to clip the cards to, but you could use clothespins if you prefer! If you have more cards, you can add another ribbon beside, easy peasy! I also love that this allows you to read the back if you’re checking them out.

Alternatively, you could hang the ribbon like a garland, with a nail in either end and clip the cards on like a garland.

3. Tied Into a flipbook

This is how we’ve displayed the cards we’ve received the past few years! While we’re looking to switch it up this year (I’m really rooting for the last idea), this is such a great way to display the cards so that they actually get looked at and so that they don’t end up cluttering every surface in your home. I just used a hole punch and a thin ribbon to tie them together!

What do you do with christmas cards people send?

As a bonus, if you love to keep your cards year to year, these are really easy to keep together and store.

4. In a Garland

I’m not going to lie, I’m obsessed with this idea although we use this railing to dry snow pants over so it’s just not practical for us in this space. But if you had a railing that was not in your main, crowded entrance… how gorgeous is this?!

I just used bobby pins to attach the cards to the garland. This is truly so pretty… we left them up for a few days even though for now they’re all still cards of us- ha!

5. Corralled in a Basket

Last but not least, corral all of those pretty cards in a little basket or tray on your coffee table! Having a designated place for them makes them easy to keep from taking over the house and keeping them on the coffee table makes them so easy to sit down and look through.

I used this acrylic tray I have had for years, but you could even use a beautiful bowl!

I hope this has given you some ideas to display your holiday cards using what you have! If you do use one of these ideas- you know I would so love to see a photo! You can tag me @colleenpastoor on social.

This tool is what we used for this accent wall and all the trim in our home. It’s the one I used to trim out my built in shelving and add the decorative moulding to my geometric barn door. What I’m saying is this thing is a workhorse and I want you to have one too 😉

The hallway is finally finished and I’m so stink The hallway is finally finished and I’m so stinking happy!

It’s felt like such a long time coming for such a small space. Since we moved in 2.5 years ago, this space has seen new doors and hardware, new trim, new floors... twice😅, we changed the boob light to a pot light and I hated it and now it’s got the most beautiful flush mount fixture I’m in love with (thanks @mymitzi!). It finally got some fresh paint and now frames on walls and last but not least... After this weekend, the new floors look like they were here all along (no door jamb gaps!) which was the last thing really bugging me since our flood last year.

All this to say that home takes time and sometimes getting it right might take a couple tries. Also- the spaces we don’t really think about (hallways) can totally help a house feel like home with some love (and family photos 🥰)
ps. I partnered with #mymitzi to create a tiktok for This makeover... are you following me over there yet?! I’d love if you popped over and said hi!
It’s done! It works! And I’m calling it a grea It’s done! It works! And I’m calling it a great use of my afternoon the other day. Did you catch the stories? These projects both cost me under $10 by using pieces I already had in my home (yay for scraps!) and one package of drawer slides).
You can find the full video about these two kitchen organization projects over on YouTube in collaboration with my friend @love_create_celebrate and her #scrapsmademodern challenge! But for now... I’m rejoicing this coffee maker is off my counter for good 🎉
How’s your January going? Full speed or are you How’s your January going? Full speed or are you taking it a bit slow too?

I’m not going to lie, I’m easing into this new year thing pretty slowly. All my decorations are still up (we always leave them up til Ukrainian Christmas which is later this week) and I I’ve yet to respond to my emails since before Christmas 😅
I’m enjoying the slowness of it all.

So today I’m excited to partner with @kregjig to share some rad projects to make and sell this year!
Like this rolling storage system I made for my office, that rad dollhouse and the gorgeous bath toy storage. All of these projects are things that I’d personally love to buy for our family and look like they’d be a great return on your time making them! And yes, all of them use #Kreg tools to make them easy to assemble and quick to make! Plus, they’re having a great sale on right now with deals on their K4 and K5 jigs, Rip-Cut and even a hardware jig bundle! There’s never been a better time to get your workshop set up! #sponsored
