DIY NYE Garland

Dec 29

DIY Sparkly Garland (perfectly for New Years Eve!)

So Christmas is over! Every year it comes and goes faster- I swear. But before you tear down your Christmas decor- save that garland! This DIY garland sticks to the black, white, gold, and silver palette that is classically NYE decor. I saved the silver tinsel looking garland from my Rustic Pinecone and Bauble Wreath (although Shane questioned me) and this is why!

I saw these super cute food toppers and thought this would be a great way to create a garland. I made it the exact same way as my Valentines Day Pom Pom Garland- but instead of pom poms, I used chunks of garland. I know all of you are smart savvy readers so I don’t need to explain this to you- but humor me, okay? I would feel like a cheater giving you a post with two mini paragraphs of text and a good luck. So start by cutting your garland into chunks. Just take a pair of scissors to it and enjoy destroying all that tacky (unless you like your garland… then wince with each cut I guess).

Now you have this pile of sparkly pouffs ready to be strung into a garland. I actually didn’t string anything though. I glued it. Stick that glue gun right into the center of the pouff and then press the string into the glue, wrapping the pouff around. Be careful with your fingers though!

So… there you go! Now I’ve given you an extra paragraphs of hopefully not totally needless instructions. And hopefully this will help you spice up your New Years even just a little bit! I know that Christmas gets the best of most of us (unless you look forward to NYE all year- your party will rock!) but I’m a big advocate for making every celebration special with some decorations. Do you have big plans for NYE? I’d love to hear what you’ve got going on! We’ll be at a family of family (yeah, get that) cabin- and I can’t wait!

PS. Can I tell you about this picture? I bought a watercolor set from the dollar store guys! Haha, and this is my first attempt that I’m really proud of. I love this verse in Genesis where God reminds Abram who He is. Abram has been told he’ll be the father of nations (equate this to- he’ll realize his dreams) but Abram is OLD so he’s doubting secretly. God calls him out to look up at the stars and count them- that will be like his descendants. Isn’t that encouraging? God has big plans for us and sometimes it’s so good for us to be called out on our doubt. I think it’s a great verse to start our 2015 off- what are your stars?

Really pretty! I think I like the silver garland better as a new years decoration than Christmas =)
