Two Peas in a Pod: A Shower

Nov 22

To bring a camera or not? I struggle with the balance. For example, you throw a shower for a good friend. You work so hard to put together decor, food, activities and a guestlist so you want to remember how it turned out! Do I bring my camera and spend the day behind the lens capturing guests interacting and event details to have as memories? Or, do I leave my camera to be completely present and enjoy the party like every other guest engaging in meaningful conversation without a camera in hand (hurray for finger food!)?

About a month ago now (or more!), my wonderful sister-in-laws threw me and the babes a shower. I chose to leave my camera at home and had a wonderful time… but do wish I had some candids from the night. What’s a girl to do?

One of my SILs took these snapshots before the party began… Imagine that table full of delicious appies and people crowded in, laughing and holding babies.

Isn’t the ‘two peas in a pod’ theme the cutest!?  Notice my maternity photos and twins newborn photos? I love the little details, the cupcakes, mint water, and my all time favourite sugar cookies (I could eat them for days).

What’s your motto when it comes to taking pictures at parties? I’d love to hear your take!

This is SO adorable! I love those little Wishes for Baby printables :) I’m pinning this and posting it on Twitter! I always have a camera and take pics before. If I REALLY want pics I have someone do it for me with my camera…but I’m with you…life too short to be so obsessed with remembering a moment that you don’t enjoy it in the present!

Thanks so much Deonna! Those were such nice memories to bring them home (wishes for baby). As for photos- I’m glad you agree! It sure makes blogging about parties hard though! I think I need to decorate/get parties ready sooner so that I’m not busy until people show up.
