We were away last weekend, spending some quality time up at Sheridan Lake. It was so nice to get out and enjoy the snow and relax by the fire. I took the babes out for a walk on the lake and it was so beautiful- the perfect way to start off 2014.
2013 was a huge year for us. The best year yet. I’m looking forward to saying the same about 2014. I wanted to take the time to jot down all the things that made 2013 so wonderful. I decided Instagram is a great way to illustrate the year since I post fairly regularly. You can follow me here!
We started out January with resolutions to get fit. We joined a run club and signed up for a 10K. At the end of January we found out I was pregnant! In February we found out it was twins… so much excitement! That meant by March, I was too big to keep running so got to watch Shane complete the 10K with my sister-in-law.
In February, my sister and husband were so sneaky- they pulled off the best surprise ever. They talked to my boss and got me time off work, flew me to visit my sister and topped it off with tickets to see Tegan and Sara (my total fav). Other than the morning sickness… it was the best. trip. ever.
More travel followed in April… I jetted off to Vegas with my Mom, Aunt and Sister. I should mention that this trip had been planned since childhood and they hadn’t planned on lugging a prego around with them! Shane and I also took off to Sunpeaks Resort for our last Anniversary without kids!
Even though I graduated last year, I was still corresponding and working on some academic work. I was so excited to be awarded a scholarship to do my masters (one of my resolutions is to get started with applications this year), and thrilled that it could be deferred because of pregnancy (this prego was not about to brave that). As I mentioned in this post, I was also published for the first time ever!
May was a huge month for me work-wise. I was working in fundraising and we had a bunch of events including a playground build! It was so rewarding to see something I’d worked so hard for come to fruition. By the end of the month, I was on medical leave to rest my big belly (or something like that). I’ve posted about my pregnancy here and here.
Being pregnant took a lot out of me so we kept busy with lots of coffee (tea for me!) dates, boardgames, and for the first time, I kept in touch with a few friends via snail-mail (and I’m determined to do more this year)! And of course, I started this blog!
September my two beautiful bundles of joy were born, and after almost two weeks in the hospital (read about that here), we brought them home.
As Emmitt and Aubrey got settled in at the apartment, we were still showing it (we had listed in the spring). Finally, we sold our first place! We’re still on the hunt for a new place, so we packed up and moved on in with my Dad.
After September, days have flown by. First Thanksgiving, First Halloween, First Christmas, it goes so quick!
I told you it was a huge year! Thanks for letting me rehash my 2013 and document all the blessings from the year. I’m so excited to start sharing with you some crafty things I’ve been working on and some delicious recipes that we’ve been feasting on.

They make me smile too :)
I’m hoping to start this fall and I’d be studying Tourism (the social theory side).
Ps. You’re the sweetest.
Amber
Colleen, I absolutely love your blog. You are so talented and crafty!
What a year 2013 was for you, and not just because you had twins — so many other great and big things happened too like your traveling and getting approved for your masters (what are you doing a masters in by the way?)
Looking forward to following your blog though I can’t promise I will do any of the crafts you post as I’m the least craftiest person in the world. Hope you and those adorable little babes are doing well! XO

Thanks for checking it out Amber! It really was a crazy year and I love that I was able to document it here. Hopefully masters will be for Tourism Studies… fingers crossed we get it here for 2014!
And I’ll make you a deal- you don’t need to craft with me and I won’t run in the freezing cold with you :)
