Another year has come and gone and today, I’m excited to share the TOP posts from 2018 on Lemon Thistle. This is one of my favourite posts to do each year. I love looking back over all the posts from the year and seeing which ones resonated with you all the most. This year there were SO many posts. I was surprised (as always) to see which ones made the most popular list (according to page views). So here is the top 10 posts of all time in 2018, the top 10 posts published in 2018, AND 10 of my personal picks that didn’t make those charts. Ready? Let’s go!
OH! And since I’ve been really getting in to YouTube this year- I thought I’d put this best of the best post into a YouTube video as well! It’s below :)

If you’re not here for a video… I’ve got you too ;) Check them out below!
Okay, so I’m just now realizing that I did these in no particular order… sooo I’m not sure how to tell you which one is first and which one is tenth without redoing the graphics and I reeaaally don’t want to do that. How about this… you can see pretty clearly which is which according to the pictures. I’ll count them down in order of popularity. Deal?
TEN: Meow! This cat banner is so darn simple- but I guess you all love cats ;) It just squeaked in at number 10!
NINE: Yesss! I published our kitchen remodel right before the holidays and you guys loved it too! This remodel was such an amazing challenge for us (we took on way more than we ever have DIY renovation AND design wise- I love it!). You can see the whole thing right here!
EIGHT: Handlettered pumpkins! This post was a total last minute decision. I was doing a popup in town to sell them and couldn’t get another DIY together in time for a hop I’d signed up for… well… I should scramble last minute more often ;) Just kidding. That’s my usual course of action.
SEVEN: It’s a Motivation brush lettering practice sheet! I only made a few of these this year (and it looks like they all made this list!) so now I can’t wait to make you all more!
SIX: Chugga Chugga Two Two! Windsor’s Second Birthday Party made the cut this year… which reminds me that I’ve spent NO time planning his birthday party which is THIS SUNDAY! Ha! Wish me all the luck, friends.
FIVE: It’s ANOTHER brush lettering practice sheet! This one is for Autumn. I’m so happy that you guys are enjoying my hand lettering practice sheets! I always have so much fun making them and playing with all the different styles.
FOUR: Oh heyyy, it’s another printable lettering practice sheet! Mermaid Lettering came in at five!
*THREE AND A HALF* Okay… I’m not sure what I was doing when I made these graphics. Because I missed this one. How to use Iron On Vinyl on Wood! This is one of our Cricut VS Silhouette Series my friend Alexis and I put together for ya. We’re also working on another one of these this month!
THREE: Our cozy modern patio… that we left behind! We LOVED this deck that we built and when we made it over to a cozy seating area- you guys loved it as much as we did. But then we moved… like a month later. Ha! Can’t wait to set up our patio here this summer!
TWO: 2019 Free Printable Calendars! Because eeeveryone loves their calendars. Maybe? If you didn’t know, I’ve got 4 versions of these babies for my email subscribers- grab them before they’re gone right here!
ONE: How to Upload Your Own Images to Cricut Design Space… YOU GUYS! I did this for years on the blog as part of other tutorials but never put it in it’s OWN post. Apparently I should do that sort of thing more! Any requests?! ;)
Okay, so I was SUPER surprised to see how much you guys liked the hand lettering practice sheets! THREE of them made the top 10?! I guess we should make some more of them this year! Consider it done ;) Also making the cut was two of the four room reveals I did this year… there are going to be even more this year, I can’t wait to share them with you!
Now… on to the top 10 of all time! But honourable mention for the fallen… I’m SO GRATEFUL that this peanut butter sandwich didn’t make my top ten this year. I thought I’d never shake that one!
TEN: The first time I ever tried using iron on vinyl on wood? Well, that made the cut! I chatted about my first time testing it out and the largest Cricut project I’ve ever done!
NINE: You gotta love an IKEA hack! These DIY Open Shelves were a total steal and strong enough for kitchen dishes!
EIGHT: Two from the one kitchen in this list! Our white IKEA kitchen before and after at our last place also made the cut. I totally loved this kitchen- it was perfect for our family and a totally affordable way to transform that 60’s space!
SEVEN: This list always brings up some OOOLD posts. This vintage book baby shower was thrown before I even started blogging but our fam has always loved a good party- such a cute theme!
SIX: Possibly the most boring sounding post I’ve ever written… and the very first video on my YouTube channel (all my videos before this were in partnership with a TV channel so I never had to struggle with the editing). How to Caulk Baseboards. Ha! Seriously! Are you guys in to these renovation DIYs? I can totally do more!
FIVE: Do you have a favourite DIY? This is probably mine! We use this live edge wood & steel base table every day and I love it just as much as the day we finished it!
FOUR: This is one of my favourite reveals we did in our last place! Our split level entry before & after (cathedral entry) with sneaky built in storage!
THREE: Everyone loves the yard games! Giant Jenga, Domino and Yahtzee are aaaall in this post that’s been one of my most popular since it was published a couple years ago!
TWO: These Modern Yearly Photo Books are honestly something I hope to keep up with as long as we have kids in the house. At least. I have it on my list to work on the 2018 this month and know that it will go SO QUICKLY now that I have this system down!
ONE: Another of this one topping the charts! My first experience being on video and the most popular post I’ve ever had on Lemon Thistle. And it’s aaaaall for ‘how to disassemble a pallet’. It’s the really creative ideas that make a splash ;)
So that’s the official list… and while I always love the posts that make the list, I always love to pick out my favourites that DIDN’T. Because it’s awesome to look back and pick out some projects I totally loved. So here’s my 10 underdogs from 2018!
There isn’t really an order on these ones since I love them all equally ;) For consistency… I’ll still count down though!
TEN: Since the lettering practice sheets were so popular this year, I thought I’d throw this one in here! It’s 3 different ways to use the brush lettering practice sheets to improve your lettering.
NINE: This little leather cat pouch was such a fun challenge for me to create. I am NOT an expert seamstress and when I do sew it’s because there’s something I REALLY want to make. And when it turns out this cute? Bonus! Lots of tips for sewing leather too!
EIGHT: Mine & Yours pillow covers! I loved getting back to my roots of hand painting and lettering in a different medium and coming out with something so darn pretty that I am excited to have on my bed every day.
SEVEN: If you’re new to DIY and don’t want to dig into power tools- this wooden welcome sign is the perfect DIY for you! It’s also the first video that I feel like I started to find my ‘style’ for video editing. Woohoo!
SIX: Bon Voyage! I don’t travel a ton but now when I do, I’ll be going in style :) I made these metallic leather passport holders AND ironed on that metallic detailing and I’m obsessed with them.
FIVE: These mermaid mugs aren’t anything crazy- I know bloggers have made mugs before. But I’m in love with these designs I made for the Fresh Cut Bundles and am even more obsessed with the video clip of this cream being poured into the coffee. For someone who’s just getting into video… it made me feel like I was winning for just a minute ;) I also shared what kind of vinyl is washable!
FOUR: I’m such a sucker for tablescapes, you guys! And I did hardly any of them this year with our move. One of them was this outdoor boho summer tablescape and ahhh it makes me want to set up a retreat to have dinner guests over in our new yard this summer. Macrame and all.
THREE: The very first space we shared of our new house DONE is our master closet. It’s my favourite because the feeling of having it done was like no other. Plus, I learned a lot!
TWO: Another tablescape! This is the first tablescape we did in our new home and can I let you in on a secret? The dining room had NO flooring (just subfloor), NO baseboard, and the wall behind the table was half white and half green. So it was an exercise in finding the right angle. Even still.. this moody autumn tablescape is one of my favourite posts from the entire year.
ONE: I don’t know that I’ve ever put a free tech wallpaper/printable post in my favourites even though I make them EVERY MONTH. Nope! It hasn’t happened. This quote just hits me every time I read it though and I think wallpapers are so beautiful though. I still have it on my phone months later. Remember when you wanted what you now have?
