So before I get started, can I share some news? Today is my very first class… teaching that is! I’m so excited I am starting to teach a class at the local university on events. I know I don’t share too much about school or academics (mostly because I’m not in school) but I really love that stuff. I did do a post a while back on my research into Christian Rock Festivals if you’re into that kind of thing. Anyways- wish me luck :)
So I know I’ve mentioned once or twice how my babes are almost one year old and how crazy fast the time has gone. But I haven’t mentioned my inspiration for their party yet! I’m pretty excited about it- a Beeday! It took a bit of Pinteresting and tossing ideas at my hubby to find one that we thought was good for a boy and girl and for a first birthday. So here’s what we came up with (and we kinda like how cheesy it is): A First Beeday Party. Get it? Ah, love it. So here’s some of the pins that are inspiring me for their party right now!
This is the first thing I saw that said Beeday… and at first, I thought CHEESE! But then, I’m like- they’re babies, everything they like is cheesy. This is actually a set of printables from Etsy. Oh, also- hexagons. Could you guess I’d be all over that?
The only other thing ‘Bees’ for this post? These cute cake pops! Now I totally don’t have the energy to make cake pops right now, so I’m thinking I’ll use this concept to make something else- but how cute are they!!
Okay, so stepping away from the bees… I love the idea of having a chalkboard with all of their ‘stats’. Plus black and white fits with the theme, no? I think it would be fun to have them both side by side and compare the differences between the two of them. I think I’ll use my Giant Party Chalkboards for this.
Speaking of black and white… I’m loving the bold stripes that have been trending for tables. I might have to go find myself a table cloth like this and use it for the party. And then for everything else.
So we know (almost) every first birthday out there now has a cake smash and I love it! When I saw these beeswax candles Victoria made, I was in love. This would be the perfect occasion to make them for! I just need to source some beeswax in town now that I’ve procrastinated until I can’t order anything anymore.
Okay, so Martha has done it again. But actually a while ago because I’m pretty sure by now everyone and their dog has pinned this one. But I love it just the same. Just imagine those photos in a big ol’ 1.
I might have saved the best for last. These party hats! I love ’em. They’re so fun and I’m pretty sure if you switched out that pink and purple for some yellow, they were made to be at this party.
So I’m sure you get the idea- Bees, black-white-yellow, graphic, and fun. I’d love to hear what you think and any ideas you might have! I’ll be working on it this week and next (the party is on the 13th).
PS. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a post take me longer than this one- my computer is CRAWLING! Any suggestions on how to bring a Mac back to life?
A university class on events? Where can I sign up!
And my gosh with all those party inspiration photos your babies first beeday is going to be incredible!
It might be a bit of a commute for you ;) TRU (Kamloops) has a whole Diploma on it- it’s part of the Tourism program here.
beeday! i love it. i also love the color scheme with the black pattern and the pops of color – the hats, the tablespread – all gorgeous. how lucky are those babes to have you planning all this? and good luck with the class- i want more details!
Thanks so much Jenn! I’ve got my first lecture tomorrow, I’m sure I’ll post about it soon :)

SO CUTE! I want a bee-themed birthday and I’m turning 26 tomorrow. haha. Is it terrible that I can’t wait to have kids just so I can throw them fun birthday parties ;)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I saw your picnic, you lucky girl :)
So cute. I love the bee theme, but then my daughter is using it for her second child’s nursery. You put together a beautiful day for your babes. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
How sweet would this look in a nursery! So much fun Beth :)
