I’m so sorry I missed this! I haven’t used citrus peel, my local home depot doesnt stock it and has told me it’s banned where I live (not sure if that’s accurate though!).
You can use a deglosser too!

I think a high quality paint will adhere to even a glossy coat. Best of luck!

Can I ask what kind of adhesive you used for your tile trim?

Love all the posts – incredibe resource as you’ve covered many of same DIY projects I’m currently working in in my newly purchased home.

Questions-have you used citrus peel and if so will I still need to use Tsp cleaner or will the citrus peel do the trick?

Obviously I would still clean it following the citrus peel (Aside from scraping it off wiping it down and vacuuming any loose particles for dust ) our hardware gal advised us the citrus peel prior to painting should do the job of the TSP and after the citrus I should be able to just clean, prime , then paint my brick

the current brick has a glossy sheen , likely due to whatever sealer or glaze finish that was applied (brick appears to unpainted except for the glossy sheen )

She suggested that because we’re not 100 % sure what they sealed it with it’s best to take it off and start over. I too hate the shiny look of mine and hope it times out as beautifully as yours !

We used our trim paint for this- semigloss :)

It’s the one that was here prior to us moving in, we just gave it a coat of spray paint :)

This fireplace insert came with the home. I did paint it with a high heat spray paint in matte finish.
