There’s something about a simple holiday party that I just can’t get enough of. I like to party always, that’s well established- but this time of year I crave getting together with friends and family more than any other time. When Modify Ink challenged me to use the Holiday Party suite I knew I wanted to go for classic, simple, and understated fun. This little gingerbread party was SO much fun to put together and by using the party suite- it was darn simple too. The biggest challenge? Getting those gingerbread houses to stick together! Man, I was not made for that! I think I’ll need to get a better icing recipe next time.
I chose to customize with a dark holiday green and classic red. I love the nostalgic touch they add to a modern party suite. The classic plaids, snowflakes and stars totally fit with that too. I really was so happy with how well the colours worked in this suite. Usually I find myself hand crafting details to jazz up a prefab party suite, but this time I found the suite included everything (and even more!) than I really needed. I can honestly say- I have never not added DIY yo party decor. So this one totally had me at hello.
My favourite detail from this party is the ‘confetti’ like table runner made from the small circle garland and tags that weren’t used up on the straws and treat bags. It’s so casual but adds enough to make the table special. I really love the mix of the wordless garland confetti pieces and the bold, graphic labels. The takeaway tags were used as decoration until guests were ready to package up their house and bring it home. Oh, and that ‘Merry Christmas’ garland? I think that’s going to stay on my walls all season.
Are you going to be decorating gingerbread houses this year? Would you make a gingerbread party out of the activity? We did it a couple times this year and LOOOOVE it. I’m always amazed at how creative my kids are. The tops of the trees got merengue stars and there were lines of gumdrops along the roof. Sprinkle ponds and m&ms living inside the houses. When did my babies become kids!?
Such a fun idea! I’ll have to have to do this with my girls and their friends next year! Thanks for sharing with us at Share The Wealth Sunday!
