Will you be watching the Oscars this Sunday? I know I will, but probably in the comfort of my sweatpants with just a couple friends. I love the look of Oscars parties- so glam! But really, it’s a Sunday night. Sunday. But just because I’ll be wearing sweats, doesn’t mean we can’t make it festive. Here’s a couple ideas I’ve pulled from around the web for a simple, frugal black and gold Oscar party. A little sparkle, a lot of popcorn, and some good ol’ paper crafts make this party easy to put together in a hurry.
Decor:
Dress your door with this super cute tassel garland (Linen, Lace, and Love shows us how to DIY it, and you can use tissue paper to save some dough). Grab some gold and black paper and craft yourself some Oscar Statues and Stars, then use the extra gold to punch some confetti! The Oscar cutout doesn’t have a DIY, but you could follow the same steps in the Stars DIY. Have spray paint lying around? Skip the craft paper and spray some old cereal boxes like the Stars DIY suggests.
Food:
It seems like popcorn is an Oscar party staple. I won’t complain for two reasons. 1. Who doesn’t like some classic caramel corn? 2. Popcorn is your pocket book’s best friend. And while I totally think you should have some classic movie theater popcorn (bring on the buttery goodness!), I’ve got two delicious alternatives for you to try: Classic Caramel and Maple Bacon. Yeah, bacon.
Activities:
What’s a party without some fun and games? How About Orange put together a voting ballot and a bingo game. So your friends who are watching for the dresses can play along too. I’m so excited to bust this out. I love bingo of any kind, if you haven’t picked up on that!
What are your plans for Sunday night? Will you be camped in front of your TV with the rest of us? And the most important question: sweatpants or little black dress?

i’ve had a pajama party oscar party the past few years (like you said, something about the sunday night) but i might be ready to dress it up with a snack or decoration or two — make the whole thing more fun, right?? the oscar bingo is too cute to pass up :)
I’m with you. I’m still convincing my friends that bingo is a good idea… they’re up for the ballots, but I’m getting eye rolls for bingo so far! :(
